Arkadaş Makina Kimya was founded in 1966 through entrepreneurial skills of Mr. Sermed Arkadaş in order to fulfill the everyday needs of printers in Turkey. Driven by his enthusiasm with over 38 years of experience in printing industry, AMK has been consolidating its name through a constant and active presence in the market of aluminum pre-sensitized offset printing plates, graphic arts films, chemical products, various pre-press equipments and finally medical films. Today, AMK has developed into a “one stop shop”, where it’s customers and dealers can obtain all types of printing supplies and machinery, as well as medical films. In its early stages, as the exclusive distributor of various internationally recognized printing press and pre-press machine manufacturers in Turkey, AMK was able to serve its customers and the emerging needs of Turkish printers with a wide range of products from consumable supplies to equipment. However, by 1980’s AMK was already in its second stage of growth, manufacturing various pre-press machines and converting graphic arts films in its 57.000m² facilities in Vize / Kırklareli, out of which 14.000m² are closed areas. In 1995, opening of a new plant for production of pre-sensitized offset printing plates put AMK at the top of the Turkish printing supplies industry. Moreover, a part from its activities in printing consumables and equipment production, AMK has entered into a completely new industry by opening its x-ray film facility in 2003. Now, with this new approach, AMK is also serving both private and state owned hospitals for their medical film requirements both in Turkey and in the neighboring countries. Finally, upon initiation of the second offset printing plate production line in the third quarter of 2004, AMK will become the biggest and most complete factory domestically in its field and one of the most outstanding and capable in the world both in production of printing plates and conversion of graphic arts and medical films. AMK’s basic goal has always been growth, growth achieved through customer service and service achieved through innovative products created by diversified resources that are already yielding significant results.
